Conflict Minerals Policy

Sensor Scientific has adopted conflict minerals guidelines and expects all material suppliers to provide materials that are “DRC conflict free.”

“DRC conflict-free” refers to any “conflict minerals” (including gold, tin, tantalum or tungsten) used in the supply chain that do not financially support armed or militant groups through mining and/or mineral trading in the Democratic Republic of Congo or any adjoining “covered countries”.

Sensor Scientific Inc. also expects all suppliers to follow all applicable legal requirements such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) conflict minerals rule Section 1502, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform, and Consumer Protection Act (“Conflict Minerals Rule”).
Background:
On August 22, 2012, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) issued the final conflict minerals rule under Section 1502 the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (the “Conflict Minerals Rule”). It has been widely reported that the major driver of the military violence is the natural abundance of the minerals tin, tungsten, tantalum and gold, now referred to as “conflict minerals.” Armed groups fight for control of mines in this region and use forced labor to mine and sell the minerals.

Sensor Scientific supports the goal of ending violence, human rights violations and environmental devastation in the Covered Countries.
