Thermistors

Thermistors
NTC thermistors are elements whose resistance falls with an increase in temperature, and find use in applications such as temperature sensing.

High Quality Thermistors

Sensor Scientific Inc. offers variety of high quality NTC thermistors. NTC thermistor material and chips are made in New Jersey , USA.

A thermistor or thermal resistor has a resistance value that varies in a predictable way in relationship to temperature and is usually made of ceramic material, as opposed to RTDs or thermocouples that are made of metal. The amount of resistance change from one temperature to another is substantially higher than changes measured by RTDs.

Thermistors are everywhere…in cars, airplanes, air conditioners, computers, medical equipment, incubators, hair dryers, electrical outlets, digital thermostats, portable heaters, refrigerators, ovens, stovetops an all kinds of appliances.

  • What is a Thermistor?
A thermistor is a common type of semiconductor that is found in a wide range of applications and industries. Engineers turn to thermistors because they are highly accurate while also being cost-effective. NTC thermistors are constructed from various materials that all have known resistance. As the ambient or device temperature increases and NTC thermistor’s resistance increases in non-linear motions (following a designated curve). Materials are the largest factor in determining the shape of resistance and temperature curves.
  • Common Thermistor Configurations
Thermistors are semiconductors that offer greater resistance than a conducting material while also maintaining lower resistance than an insulating material. The materials used to construct a thermistor are among the main factors in determining the relation between temperature and resistance.
  • Four Common Applications of NTC Thermistors
Engineers have used NTC thermistor probes for measuring temperature and liquid levels in a multitude of industries that includes medical technology, automotive electronics, and green energy.
